This position is responsible for managing a large statewide institute focused on health-equity research and learning healthcare delivery, an international evidence consortium, and a large established federally funded portfolio of research focused on patient safety. This role will require working effectively with multiple co-investigators across multiple project teams and organizations, outside senior level collaborators, and with healthcare delivery and IT staff performing key development and implementation activities. Responsibilities include launching, managing and growing a newly funded startup Massachusetts Institute for Equity-Focused Learning Health System Science which is a statewide consortium dedicated to training a new workforce of researchers embedded in health systems; developing an educational program focused on human centered design, health equity, and learning health care delivery; creating a collaborative dataset around social drivers of health; and accelerating the implementation of research results into practice. The program also involves an international evidence program (Cochrane US West) and two NIH-funded R01 projects merging large datasets and testing leading edge AI to model adverse safety events in clinical care and conducting simulations with healthcare providers to develop and test interventions to reduce errors. This person will be responsible for daily operations, supervise research staff, participate in writing grant proposals and research documents, and will interface with investigators across multiple organizations, as well as funders.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the administrative resource and liaison for the program, interacting with all levels of personnel, both internal and external.
  • Is knowledgeable in all aspects of assigned trials to be able to evaluate questions and problems.
  • Ensures that all program policies and procedures are developed and up to date.
  • Maintains daily correspondence (via email and phone) with all team members and external study/project sponsors in a professional and timely manner, archiving records of correspondence per NIH, FDA, and/or other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Develops program-specific performance measures to assess effectiveness and success of program components. Implements data collection processes and communicates performance through periodic reports to working and executive groups.
  • Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 4-6 Indirect Reports: None
  • Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years related work experience required and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
  • Experience in Program development and implementation.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
